Frequently asked questions

Pre and Post Care

Pre-Wax Care

Treatments last only 15-45 minutes, depending on the area you want to be waxed.
The hair should be at least 1/8” to 1/2 inch long for waxing to be effective.

To ensure our client's waxing experience is pleasant and successful, here are some tips:

  • Exfoliate the area to be waxed the day before or the day of service
  • Stop shaving the area 10 days prior to waxing.
  • If pain tolerance is low, take ibuprofen 30 - 40 minutes before service
  • Avoid exposure to ultraviolet rays (sun or tanning beds) for at least 24 to 48 hours after the service.
  • Client's using the following medication should wait about 7-10 days before getting treatment: - Retin-A - Renova, or - Antibiotics
  • Clients taking/using Accutane please consult with your medical provider.

Post Wax Care

Please wait 24 to 48 hours after getting wax to do the following:

  • No tanning beds, saunas or steam rooms.
  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools or the beach
  • Avoid heavy exercise
  • Don’t use products with harsh chemicals perfumes, or dyes.
  • You will want to exfoliate any area waxed after 48hours to prevent ingrown hairs and continue to do so at least 2 to 3 times a week.

If you still have some tenderness you can use a cold compress to soothe the area.

Once you start waxing, NO MORE SHAVING! It distorts the hair growth. Heavy lotions, creams aren't necessary in the brazilian area but if you want to apply something, it is best to use aloe vera or jojoba oil.

What brand of tint do you use?

I use the brands Brow Code Pro,  Intensive Tint and ViBrowlash Tint (vegan and cruelty free).

Waxing vs. Shaving?

What type of wax is used?

What type of wax is used?

Waxing is better because it removes hair from the root. When you shave you just cut the hair, so two hours later, you can see the hair there or the blue shadow (the hair follicle below the skin). Waxing, on the other hand, lasts longer and gets rid of bumps and ingrown hairs. Over time it thins the hair so less grows back. Bonus: It exfoliates the skin as well, leaving you feeling silky smooth.

What type of wax is used?

There are 2 types of wax used and they are Hard and Soft wax. Hard wax is gentle enough to be used on the face but strong enough for the more coarse hairs. Soft wax is used on the areas with more finer hair, such as legs, eyebrow, lip, etc.

Will waxing change the pigmentation of my skin?

The wax sticks to your skin and removes the topmost layer so you may experience some lightening gradually.

How often should I wax?

Will waxing change the pigmentation of my skin?

I recommend coming in every three to 4 weeks for regular waxing appointments. A person can wait longer than 4 weeks, but they run the risk that the waxing experience will be more uncomfortable for them.
